Con la Ruota della Fortuna, l’energia degli Arcani Maggiori cambia passo. Dopo l’introspezione dell’Eremita, il mondo si rimette in moto. L’Arcano X segna un punto di svolta, un varco tra ciò che è stato e ciò che può accadere. È la carta del destino, del cambiamento, della ciclicità della vita.
Nelle raffigurazioni classiche, come il Tarocco di Marsiglia, vediamo una ruota attorno alla quale si aggrappano tre figure: una che sale, una al culmine, una che scende. È l’eterno ciclo di ascesa e caduta, il flusso degli eventi che nessuno può controllare completamente. Spesso la ruota è coronata da una figura regale (la Sfinge), a suggerire un mistero superiore che regola i movimenti.
Nel Rider-Waite, la carta si arricchisce di simbolismo esoterico: la ruota è ornata da lettere (T-A-R-O o R-O-T-A), da simboli alchemici e dai quattro evangelisti posti nei quattro angoli della carta. Al centro, una croce e il serpente di Tifone che scende, mentre Anubi risale. La ruota non è solo meccanismo di fortuna, ma anche schema di evoluzione spirituale. Chi sale può cadere, chi cade può risalire. Tutto cambia. Nulla resta fermo.
L’Arcano X non è una carta passiva: non parla solo del destino che agisce su di noi, ma anche della nostra capacità di rispondere al cambiamento. Può rappresentare eventi imprevisti, incontri casuali ma determinanti, svolte karmiche o sincronicità. Ma ci ricorda che ogni svolta porta con sé una scelta: come reagiremo?
Il numero dieci è un numero di compimento e inizio insieme: l’unione dell’1 (azione, inizio) e dello 0 (il vuoto, il potenziale). La Ruota chiude il primo ciclo decimale degli Arcani e apre la strada a una nuova evoluzione della coscienza.
Nella tradizione mitologica, la ruota richiama le Moire greche, che tessono, misurano e recidono il filo della vita, o la Dea Fortuna dei Romani, spesso bendata perché imprevedibile. Ma anche il Samsara buddhista, il ciclo delle rinascite, dal quale solo la saggezza può liberarci.
Quando appare in una stesa, la Ruota della Fortuna può indicare che un ciclo sta per concludersi, o che un cambiamento improvviso è imminente. Può annunciare un colpo di fortuna, una svolta inaspettata, un’opportunità da cogliere. Ma può anche essere un invito a lasciare andare il controllo, ad accettare l’impermanenza, a danzare con il ritmo del tempo.
In amore, può indicare relazioni che cambiano direzione, nuovi incontri, o ritorni dal passato. Nel lavoro, può segnalare cambiamenti di ruolo, promozioni, trasferimenti, o colpi di scena. Sul piano spirituale, è il richiamo a osservare il proprio destino con occhi nuovi, a comprendere che ogni evento ha un senso nel grande disegno.
Se la carta si presenta capovolta, può parlare di stagnazione, resistenza al cambiamento, sensazione di essere in balìa degli eventi. È il momento in cui ci aggrappiamo alla ruota anziché lasciarci portare dal suo movimento.
La Ruota della Fortuna ci insegna che tutto scorre. Non per punirci, ma per trasformarci. Non per perderci, ma per rivelarci. Il vero potere non è fermare la ruota, ma imparare a restare centrati mentre gira.
The Wheel of Fortune: another round, another race!
With the Wheel of Fortune, the energy of the Major Arcana shifts pace. After the introspection of the Hermit, the world begins to turn again. Arcana X marks a turning point, a threshold between what has been and what may come. It is the card of fate, change, and the cyclical nature of life.
In classic representations, such as the Tarot of Marseille, we see a wheel with three figures clinging to it: one rising, one at the top, one descending. It is the eternal cycle of rise and fall, the flow of events beyond complete human control. Often, a crowned figure — the Sphinx — sits atop the wheel, suggesting a higher mystery governing its movement.
In the Rider-Waite deck, the card is rich with esoteric symbolism: the wheel is inscribed with the letters (T-A-R-O or R-O-T-A), alchemical signs, and the four evangelists in each corner. At the center, a cross and the serpent of Typhon descending, while Anubis rises. This is not merely a mechanism of fortune, but a diagram of spiritual evolution. Who rises may fall, who falls may rise again. Everything changes. Nothing stays still.
Arcana X is not a passive card: it speaks not only of destiny acting upon us, but of our ability to respond to change. It may represent unexpected events, chance encounters that prove decisive, karmic turns or synchronicities. But it reminds us that every turning point brings a choice: how will we respond?
The number ten is both completion and beginning: the union of 1 (action, initiation) and 0 (the void, pure potential). The Wheel closes the first decimal cycle of the Arcana and opens the way to a new evolution of consciousness.
In myth, the wheel recalls the Moirai of Greek lore, who spin, measure, and cut the thread of life; the Roman Goddess Fortuna, often blindfolded and unpredictable; or the Buddhist Samsara, the cycle of rebirths from which only wisdom brings liberation.
When it appears in a reading, the Wheel of Fortune may indicate that a cycle is ending or a sudden shift is approaching. It can herald luck, unexpected changes, or opportunities to seize. It may also be a call to let go of control, to embrace impermanence, to dance with the rhythm of time.
In love, it may suggest relationships shifting direction, new encounters, or returns from the past. In work, it can point to role changes, promotions, transfers, or sudden twists. On a spiritual level, it’s an invitation to observe your path with fresh eyes — to understand that every event plays a role in the greater design.
If the card appears reversed, it may indicate stagnation, resistance to change, or a sense of being at the mercy of events. It’s the moment when we cling to the wheel instead of letting its motion carry us.
The Wheel of Fortune teaches us that everything flows. Not to punish us, but to transform us. Not to lose us, but to reveal us. True power lies not in stopping the wheel, but in learning to stay centered while it turns.
